Colorado Architecture Month

April 2010

Colorado Architecture Month is a month-long celebration of Colorado architecture and design, hosted by The American Institute of Architects (AIA Colorado) with several free events and educational opportunities for the public. AIA Denver Box City for Kids

Saturday, April 17        10 AM – 2 PM

AIA Denver Box City for Kids is a unique opportunity for your child to experience the design and construction industry firsthand by requesting permits, ordering materials, designing buildings and constructing those buildings into a cardboard city. FOCUS ON ARCHITECTURE Photography Competition

Focus on your favorite Denver architectural and urban sites during the second annual Focus on Architecture Photography Competition with Doors Open Denver. This is an opportunity to find and photograph your favorite areas of Denver, post the images to a public site and have them reviewed by a panel of judges. Platte Valley Trolley – Denver Rail Heritage Society

Enjoy a 25-minute, 2.5 mile round-trip ride along the South Platte River Greenway from Confluence Park to Old Colfax Avenue, stopping at REI Denver Flagship Sporting Goods Store, Downtown Aquarium, Children's Museum and Invesco Field at Mile High (weather permitting). The trolley is FREE to DOD participants boarding at Confluence Park ONLY (next to REI, just west of 15th St.). The trolley will run from 10AM to 4 PM on Saturday and Sunday, leaving on the hour and on the half-hour. Strollers can be parked at REI or placed aboard the trolley.
