WASHINGTON PARK BOATHOUSE AND PAVILION
(Washington Park)

The 1913 boathouse on the south shore of Smith Lake has a two-story lakefront façade and an open pavilion over enclosed boat storage. In winter, it served as a warming house for ince skaters. The structure is a mix of Prairie-style, Italianate, and Arts and Crafts elements outlined with electric lights to create a dreamy nocturnal reflection. It was designed by J. J. B. Benedict and restored in 1987 by Anthony Pellecchia Associates.
