Important:
To request an officer’s response to a non-emergency situation, dial 720-913-2000. Non-emergency situations include accidents without injuries, crimes which are not in progress and without an immediate threat to life or property, suspicious persons or vehicles, etc. For emergencies (life or property in immediate danger), dial 911.
Commander Kris Kroncke oversees District Three. He is responsible for and directs the overall operation of the district. Responsibilities are divided among four lieutenants, who manage 17 sergeants, and 106 patrol officers.
The district is divided into two sections known as patrol service areas. Lieutenants assigned to patrol service areas are responsible for addressing on-going public safety issues, problem solving efforts and, community/police partnerships within designated boundaries.
Each patrol service area is divided into smaller areas which correspond with neighborhood boundaries. These areas are referred to as precincts. A uniformed officer patrols each precinct on a 24-hour basis utilizing a traditional marked police vehicle. During each shift, precinct officers are supervised by a sergeant assigned to a service area. During the peak period of service demand, 9:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m., an overlapping shift of officers is on duty. This concept increases patrol coverage and facilitates a more efficient response to calls for service.
There are two NSCAT units (Neighborhood Special Crime Attack Teams) in the district. These proactive units address ongoing crime problems and assist with special events throughout the city.
The district has community resource officers whose responsibilities include crime prevention, community partnerships, and addressing ongoing quality of life issues.
High school resource officers are assigned to each of the district’s three high schools, including South, Thomas Jefferson, and George Washington. These officers serve as a liaison between the police department and the schools. They address safety, security and crime problems on school grounds, and interact with students on a daily basis.
Detectives assigned to District Three complete follow up investigations of property crimes, including burglary, trespass, auto theft, and criminal mischief.
