 The A, B, C's of Alleys Minimize

There are three kinds of alleys in Denver. Which kind do you have?

                                                                                          Asphalt Overlaid Alleys

asphalt There are about 1400 asphalt overlaid alleys in the City & County of Denver. These alleys are constructed of concrete with a layer of asphalt over the concrete. The Street Maintenance Division maintains the city's asphalt overlaid alleys. Work is done primarily in the spring and involves removing the old asphalt and laying down a brand new surface.

Black Gold Alleys

unimproved

Black gold alleys are unimproved alleys topped with recycled asphalt. The asphalt topping reduces dust and helps maintain the alleys as passable. 3 to 5 unimproved alleys are rebuilt annually by the Street Maintenance Division. About 30 are graded each year. There are about 1,000 black gold alleys in Denver.

Concrete Alleys
