Every person who owns, operates, or maintains any clay, sand or gravel pit or similar excavation must obtain a license. There are restrictions on the locations of excavations contained in Denver Revised Municipal Code Sec. 19-16 et. seq. These licenses are issued by the Building Department of the Public Works Department, 303-640-5903. Please contact that department for more information.
