This project involved the reconstruction of 23rd Avenue from York Street to Colorado Boulevard. Twenty-third Avenue is currently a four-lane roadway going through City Park and it was reconstructed into a two-lane with bike lanes and landscaped medians. The project included the addition of a crusher fine path along the south side of 23rd, ADA accessible ramps, RTD bus stops, turn lanes to the Park, Zoo, and Museum entrances, and additional landscaping throughout the corridor. In addition to the reconstruction of 23rd Avenue, the intersection at York and 23rd was reconstructed. Left turn lanes were added to the intersection and a new traffic signal installed. The City also worked with the Denver Water Board (DWB) to install a portion of their 42" recycled water line along 23rd Avenue.
