WRITTEN SKILLS
This test measures how well you are able to perform writing skills. It consists of a number of short letters followed by questions. The information needed to answer the questions is contained in the letters. Select one answer for each question. Sample letters have been provided.
Police officers use their writing skills when completing reports, preparing daily activity reports, writing memos and letters to civilians, community groups, officers and administration. Written reports require clear and concise communication to document incidents and ensure information is correctly recorded. Charging decisions made by the District Attorney’s Office are based on reports completed by officers.
INSTRUCTIONS:
For each letter, you will be asked a series of questions. Each question will have the following list of possible answers. You must choose the best answer. For each line in the letter below, identify the type of error, if any:
