City Council - Paul Lopez, District 3 Minimize
It is an honor for me to represent District 3 on the Denver City Council.  During my short time in office, I have heard from many of you regarding concerns and visions for our district and I am certain that together we will make our neighborhoods a better place to work, live and raise our families.  We are busy working on many of the issues that we heard while walking door to door during the campaign.

Community Outreach
We worked very hard to work with the Neighborhood associations to find a solution to the Excel/View Plane conflict that we inherited as soon as we were in office, but which had been in the works for years.

We have been meeting with various agencies to bring affordable housing and economic development to our community.

We are planning the District 3 Neighborhood Congress and working on our first quarterly newsletter.

Our office is committed to supporting and helping find resources to the Sandos family for the annual Sam Sandos Christmas Baskets distribution to feed families in need.

Finally, I would like to thank all of you who work to keep your block or your neighborhood clean and informed.  There are so many of you that care and have come forward to cleanup graffiti, to call NIS with nuisance yards, and to report crime and other violations.  We could not do our work without all of your help and support.  We welcome your comments and ideas about the needs of our neighborhoods as well as the successes.

Together we will make District 3 a safer, beautiful and vibrant place that we are all proud to call home.

Graffitti, Crime, and Alley Cleanup Minimize
We are working with the Mayor’s Office, various City departments and Graffiti enforcement officers to decrease the impact of graffiti on our community and toughen the enforcement of current graffiti ordinances.

We have sponsored graffiti cleanup operations and gathered regular volunteers for weekly abatement on many of the main thoroughfares.  We will also be distributing and collecting waivers in order for the city to cleanup graffiti on private property.

We have been met with Lakewood City Council members and have more planning sessions in the works with Lakewood and Denver police and graffiti enforcement officers, youth organizations and businesses to plan regular graffiti stings and abatement programs on both sides of Sheridan.

We are now following through with recommendations from the Graffiti Task Force and looking for new and innovative ways to address the underlying issues that create and sustain this environment.

We are meeting regularly with the District Commanders and Community Resource officers to keep abreast of crime and enforcement issues.
