 THE WESTERLY CREEK CONNECTION Minimize
Hello Friends of the Westerly Creek Connection!

The final report for the "Westerly Creek Major Drainageway Planning Update" is targeted for completion in Summer 2009.  Once finalized, the report will be analyzed by Denver and Aurora city agencies.

The community input garnered at our June public information meeting was invaluable.  Alternative #4, the "component" alternative, has the support of both WCC and Kiowa Engineering.  WCC believes that this design alternative is the most "green" and daylights the most water as it travels through the drainage system.  Thanks to all who attended and voiced your opinion.

Please contact the WCC team at westerlycreek@gmail.com.  Let us know your interests, so we can involve you in a meaningful way!

Statement and Goals – “Connecting Neighbors from Lowry to Stapleton” Minimize
The Westerly Creek Connection (WCC), a citizen advocacy group,  was formed in 2008.  This grassroots non-profit organization seeks to create and help facilitiate the development of a greenway along Westerly Creek, to provide a critical link between the heavily urbanized areas along the Denver-Aurora border, including the Lowry and Stapleton neighborhoods.  This pathway will result in the redevelopment of  ten blocks of green space incorporating existing city parks and an open water channel along Westerly Creek.

WCC has adopted the following goals and guiding principles:

  • creating green space in increasingly urban areas
  • enhancing public safety with  flood protection
  • encouraging economic re-development along Colfax Ave
  • providing neighbors with a choice and a voice in changes
  • collaborating with Urban Drainage & other gov’t agencies
  • identifying funding for urban pathway development
