About Us

Three different units combine to provide parking services for the City and County of Denver:

Parking Management, the enforcement unit of the parking office services, is a division of the Public Works Department. This office issued 627,250 parking tickets in 2000 and placed 4,127 boots on the vehicles of chronic parking offenders. Parking Management's website may be viewed by clicking here.

The Parking Violations Bureau, a division of ACS, contracts with the city to handle telephone calls, correspondence, payments and data entry of parking citations. They have a very informative site, which can be seen by clicking here

The Office of the Parking Magistrate provides citizens with a means to contest/appeal a ticket through the judicial hearing process.

There are numerous reasons why a vehicle could receive a parking ticket. Some examples are 1) parking at an expired meter; 2) expired license plates; 3) no emission sticker or an invalid sticker displayed; 4) improper use of a meter space; or 5) parking in a 'No Parking' space. There are several options available when a ticket has been received. A citizen can mail in the parking payment or he or she may contest the ticket. To contest the ticket, the citizen must appear in person at the Denver County Court Parking Magistrate's Office. There, a magistrate will listen and offer consideration on the fine amount. If not satisfied with the offer, a court date may be set where the citizen may take his/her case before a judicial officer for final hearing. The ticketing officer will also be present at the hearing.

A citizen may also request an investigation if they feel there were problems with signage in the area or if a meter failed to operate properly.

When a citizen's vehicle is booted, s/he may appear before the parking magistrate, where the magistrate may offer some consideration on the fine amount. If not satisfied with the magistrate's offer, the citizen may post a bond in the total amount of the fines and fees to obtain the release of the vehicle, then set the matter to be heard in court.
