THE DENVER COUNTY COURT JUDICIAL NOMINATION COMMISSION IS NOW ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS

DENVER -- The Denver County Court Judicial Nomination Commission is accepting applications from qualified attorneys to fill the vacancy for Denver County Court Judge created by the retirement of Judge Kathleen Bowers, effective January, 2007.

Applicants for the position, which currently pays $129,156 per year plus benefits, must be qualified electors of Denver and licensed Colorado attorneys with a minimum of five years as licensed practicing attorneys. The appointment will be for a provisional term of two years. Retention for a regular four-year term thereafter will be determined by the voters at the following biennial November General Election as prescribed by law.

The original and seven (7) copies of the completed application must be filed with the Denver County Court Presiding Judge's office no later than Monday, August 21, 2006 at 5:00 p.m. Late applications will not be considered. Applications will be kept confidential, except that the Nomination Commission shall disclose the names, work addresses, and work telephone numbers of those nominees submitted to the Mayor.
