The City of Denver is excited to host the 2008 Democratic National Convention, a once-in-a-century event. This is the second time Denver has hosted the Democratic National Convention, the last time was exactly 100 hundred years ago in 1908.
The Democratic National Convention 2008 is anticipated to attract 35,000 guests to the region including delegates, elected officials, media, and political enthusiasts from around the world. Additionally, it is anticipated that Denver will bring in $160 million in economic benefits.
The Convention will be held on August 25-28, 2008 at the Pepsi Center.

The Denver 2008 Convention Host Commitee
This is a local organization comprised of local volunteers that has partnered with the City of Denver to host the 2008 Democratic National Convention. The Host Committee will raise the funds necessary to cover the costs associated with hosting a political nominating convention and recruit and train approximately 10,000 volunteers for convention week.

Mayor John Hickenlooper has announced the appointment of Daniel Alexander as Director of the Office of Emergency Management and Homeland Security. “His experience involve the private sector in all aspects of emergency management is impressive,” Hickenlooper said. Alexander assumes post September 22, 2008.
