Speak out and share your ideas on what democracy is (or isn't) through the art of film. Submit your entry online through July 15.

Top films will be screened at Red Rocks Amphitheater on Monday, August 25 that 7PM



What does America mean to you? We want to know! Tell us your story via your own creative work for display on the Web and in a traveling exhibit. Deadline for submissions is July 15th. Your story could become part of a large and exciting “America: Live and In Person” exhibit that will be displayed throughout Colorado this summer.

City and county of denver 2008 democratic national convention website
The City of Denver is excited to host the 2008 Democratic National Convention, a once-in-a-century event. This is the second time Denver has hosted the Democratic National Convention, the last time was exactly 100 hundred years ago in 1908.
 
The Democratic National Convention 2008 is anticipated to attract 35,000 guests to the region including delegates, elected officials, media, and political enthusiasts from around the world. Additionally, it is anticipated that Denver will bring in $160 million in economic benefits.
 
The Convention will be held on August 25-28, 2008 at the Pepsi Center.
  
 About the Convention
The Denver 2008 Convention Host Commitee
This is a local organization comprised of local volunteers that has partnered with the City of Denver to host the 2008 Democratic National Convention.  The Host Committee will raise the funds necessary to cover the costs associated with hosting a political nominating convention and recruit and train approximately 10,000 volunteers for convention week.

DIA Travelers Will Have New Shopping Choices!
An array of new shops are opening at DIA just in time for the holiday travel period. The new products and services include massage, toys and tamales.



Denver Turning 150!
In honor of the 150th anniversary of the founding of the City, Denver has kicked off Arts Week.  Everyone is encouraged to participate in the celebration of the performing and visual arts. There are more than 150 events in 7 arts districts in and around the City.   



Opera Colorado Founder Honored by City
Nathaniel Merrill, the late founder of Opera Colorado will have a new event and meeting space at the Denver Performing Arts Complex named after him. The Nathaniel Merrill Founder’s Room is expected to be open by summer.



Mayor Appoints New Denver County Court Judge
Mayor Hickenlooper has announced the appointment of Kerry Steven Hada as Denver County Court Judge.  He will fill a vacancy created by the retirement of a judge at the end of this month.



"Smart" Parking Meters Make Their Debut
New "smart" parking meters are being installed in downtown Denver that accept credit and debit cards as well as coins to make parking more convenient.  It's a six month pilot program and your input is needed.  



DIA Sets Yet Another Passenger Record!
DIA has now set passenger travel records 21 months in a row.  Traffic continues to be strong even though airlines are cutting back because of increased operating costs.
