Denver to celebrate re-opening and naming of Edward J. “Eddie” Maestas Park (formerly Broadway Triangle Park)
(Denver) In conjunction with District #9 Councilwoman, Judy Montero and District #8 Councilwoman Elbra Wedgeworth, Denver Parks and Recreation will announce the re-opening and naming of the park unofficially called “Broadway Triangle Park” at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 18, 2006. The park is located at Park Avenue, Lawrence and Broadway, and sits in the heart of Lodo’s Ballpark neighborhood.
As part of the Denver Parks and Recreation naming process, neighborhood representatives presented a proposal to the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board and to Kim Bailey, Denver Parks and Recreation Manager, to name the park Eddie Maestas Park after meetings with the community and signature collections for a neighborhood petition. Saturday’s celebration will highlight the new park improvements, including an artistic shade structure, and honor long-time community activist Mr. Eddie Maestas.
