Denver Police investigate officer involved shooting

Denver Police are investigating an officer-involved shooting that occurred during the early morning hours in West Denver.

On Tuesday, August 28, 2012, at approximately 12:27 a.m., members of the Denver Police Department responded to 3415 West Colfax Avenue on a report of suicidal male armed with a gun.  The caller also related that a shot had been fired inside the residence.

When officers arrived on scene they contacted the man inside his residence and quickly established communication with him.  Shortly thereafter, the situation escalated which resulted in the suspect sustaining a gunshot wound.  He was transported to a nearby hospital where he received treatment for non-life threatening injuries. No officers were injured.

The investigation will be conducted in collaboration with the Office of the Independent Monitor.

Additional information will be released pending further investigation.
