City of Denver Supports Local National Night Out Events To Promote Community Safety & Crime-Prevention Awareness and Hosts Backpack Drive to Benefit Denver’s Youth

DENVER, COJuly 31, 2012 – The Mayor’s office, City Council and the Department of Safety are working with neighborhood businesses, civic organizations and non-profit groups to assist Denver’s communities in hosting National Night Out (NNO) events on Tuesday, August 7.

NNO events provide an opportunity for communities to stand together in a unified front to promote community safety.  The goal is to heighten crime-prevention awareness, build support and participation in local anti-crime strategies, and strengthen communities by encouraging neighborhoods to engage in stronger relationships with each other and local law enforcement partners. Many NNO events also include school supply donation drives to benefit youth within their communities.
