Denver Congratulates Ismael Guerrero as White House Solar Champion of Change

DENVER Last week, the White House released the names of ten “Solar Champions of Change” who are driving policy changes at the local level to expand energy choices for Americans, grow jobs, and add new clean energy to the grid. Denver is proud to celebrate Ismael Guerrero, Executive Director of the Denver Housing Authority, as one of our nation’s Solar Champions of Change.

“On behalf of the city, I would like to congratulate Ismael Guerrero for the high honor of being recognized by our nation’s leaders as a Solar Champion of Change,” Mayor Michael B. Hancock said. “Under his leadership, the Denver Housing Authority has made great strides to ensure renewable energy is affordable, accessible and equitable. I am proud of these accomplishments and wish Mr. Guerrero continued success in DHA’s sustainability efforts that work to provide vibrant and connected communities for some of Denver’s most vulnerable populations.”

Under Mr. Guerrero’s leadership, DHA was one of the first housing authorities in the nation to implement a landmark renewable energy project.  DHA’s solar project produces enough energy to power roughly 2,500 homes per year.

The City and County of Denver congratulates Ismael Guerrero for his role in providing a healthy, livable and connected city.
