On Saturday, June 8, 2013, Groundwork Denver will host a volunteer stewardship, recreational and educational event in conjunction with the Lower Bear Creek watershed planning process.
Fair at the Bear is intended to help bring awareness to water quality issues and subsequent impacts on the natural environment. Through education about the natural areas and local wildlife we can help children and adults gain a greater awareness of their daily impact.
Groundwork Denver has a variety of activities planned for the day. The morning will begin with a stewardship event in partnership with Denver Parks & Recreation. Volunteers will remove invasive weeds, pick up trash, paint trees for protection from beavers, and build a walking trail. The afternoon will host educational and recreational events. Educational partners include Trout Unlimited, Denver Natural Areas, Earth Force and Jefferson Conservation District.
Interested volunteers should visit our online sign up or you can contact Kristy King, Groundwork Denver’s Events & Volunteer Coordinator at Kristy@GroundworkColorado.org or call 303-455-5600.
Everyone is invited to the Fair from noon to 3:00 in Bear Creek Park (Raleigh Street, just south of Hampden).
