Update on Tennyson Street Paving and Denver Water Projects

Two projects were scheduled for Tennyson Street this summer – a Denver Water pipe relining project and a Denver Public Works repaving project as part of the 2A funding.  We were disappointed to see that there was a breakdown in the coordination of these two projects resulting in the paving project occurring and later the pipe project, which required cuts in the newly paved road.

My office convened a meeting with Denver Water and Denver Public Works to discuss this scheduling error and the multi-agency coordination processes for infrastructure maintenance/improvement projects in Denver.

At this meeting, we learned that after reviewing these processes this summer, the city is making moves to restructure the divisions involved so staff will be working together, under the same oversight. I was encouraged by this news.

Nonetheless, my constituents have been impacted by this error and so I pushed further for how the repairs were to be made and who would be responsible for paying for them.  Denver Water will be covering the cost of the infrared pavement patching, which creates a much smoother blend than what is typically used.  You can expect this project to be completed by September 1, 2014.

Project details and a map are available here and to report a potential water quality issue or inquire further about the project, please call Denver Water Customer Care at 303-893-2444.
