INTRODUCING THE BRIGHTON BOULEVARD REDEVELOPMENT PROJECT Public Meeting – September 19, 2013

INTRODUCING THE BRIGHTON BOULEVARD REDEVELOPMENT PROJECT Public Meeting – September 19, 2013

The City and County of Denver is kicking off the Brighton Boulevard Redevelopment Project with a public meeting at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 19th at the National Western Complex Club.

The Brighton Boulevard Redevelopment Project will set the vision and footprint for public multi-modal right-of-way improvements to the Brighton Boulevard Corridor, helping establish it as a gateway to Denver.

This overarching vision – slated for completion by early 2014 – will assess the multi-modal needs and determine the path forward for the 2.5-mile Brighton Boulevard corridor stretching from 29th Street to York Street.

The project will build on previous efforts to develop plans for typical street cross sections, including travel and turn lanes, curbs and medians. Sidewalks and bike facilities, as well as additional amenities and mobility improvements, will also be explored to help provide opportunities for economic development and job creation.

The Brighton Boulevard Redevelopment Project is one of six projects prioritized by Mayor Michael B. Hancock to be coordinated under one vision through the North Denver Cornerstone Collaborative.

The collaborative is aimed at energizing a nearly 23-mile corridor running from Denver Union Station to Denver International Airport by strategically aligning six critical projects: Brighton Boulevard Redevelopment; National Western Stock Show & Coliseum; I-70 Reconstruction; RTD Station Development; River North; as well as the Globeville and Elyria & Swansea Neighborhood Plans.

Community input is critical to the overall success of the project. The public is invited to attend the kickoff public meeting on September 19th and provide input to help inform decisions going forward.
