The 29 member Denver Drug Strategy Commission (DDSC) was appointed by Mayor John W. Hickenlooper in December 2006, to guide a community-wide effort to develop a strategic plan for substance abuse prevention, intervention, treatment, transition and recovery; and to implement ongoing efforts through the Office of Drug Strategy to reduce substance abuse and misuse in the City and County of Denver. The DDSC is uniquely qualified to direct this effort with representation from substance abuse treatment and prevention, K-12 and higher education, business and foundations, advocacy, public health, public safety, mental health, recovery, faith-based community, parents and youth.
