Thursday, Nov. 26 - City and County of Denver offices will be closed for the day in observance of Thanksgiving Day. On Friday, November 27, most City and County offices will also be closed as Employees are taking a furlough day to help the City create budget savings during these challenging economic times. Denver Human Services receives Progress Report on 3rd Party Review
Denver Human Services has received a progress report from the Annie E. Casey Foundation assessing the department’s progress  the 2007 Third-Party Review requested by the agency. The Review Team found the department has made “significant progress” on several of the recommendations.

2009 Mayor’s Design Awards Announced
Mayor John Hickenlooper celebrated the growing number of Denver’s homeowners, small business owners and developers who have made design excellence a priority in their community at the fifth annual Mayor's Design Awards. The program honored 15 diverse projects that enhance the city.

West Nile Virus Prevention Tips
While there have been no confirmed cases of West Nile Virus in Denver this year - here are prevention tips to help residents stay healthy this summer:

School Supplies for Youth
Denver Department of Human Services'  Annual School Supply Fundraiser runs through Aug. 10, 2009.   3,000 foster, homeless and underprivileged youth in need.

Outdoor Summer Concert
July 23 - Enjoy a FREE concert by the Colorado Symphony Orchestra at City Park beginning at 7 p.m. at Cheesman Park  - complete with a musical instrument "petting zoo".

Dog Days at Commons Park
July 18  - The Commons Park area will go to the dogs for an event to help promote responsible pet ownership in Denver and showcase the new shelter and off-leash dog park.

Independence Day Means Free Parking
July 3-5  Denver parking meters will be free from Friday, July 3 through Sunday, July 5, 2009. Denver meters are free on all City-recognized holidays and on Sundays.  Normal meter collections will resume on Monday, July 6.
