Lost Are Found Using Safety TechnologyProject Life Saver locates lost or missing persons with Alzheimer’s  The Denver Police Department has invested in the Project Life Saver Program. Project Lifesaver is a radio transmission system designed to assist law enforcement and rescue agencies in locating lost or missing persons who have been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, Autism, Dementia, or other disorders that may prohibit them from communicating personal information such as who they are or where they live. This program is designed for children and adults who have the propensity to wander from their homes and who may get lost.

| Free Business Certification Training Program Offered Free sessions connect small businesses with construction contracting opportunities
 January 24, 2007 To assist Denver businesses with the procurement of construction-related contracting opportunities, the Denver Office of Economic Development is offering a free Business Certification Training Program every Friday. Launched 2007, the two-hour training prepares businesses to participate in the City’s new Construction Empowerment Initiative (CEI).

| Homelessness Programs Receive HUD Grants from Washington HUD Awards More Than $10.3 Million to Metropolitan Denver's Homeless Initiatives
 Dozens of homeless programs in the Metropolitan Denver Homeless Initiative will receive more than $10.3 million in grants awarded today by U.S. Housing and Urban Development Secretary Alphonso Jackson. Philip F. Mangano, Executive Director of the U.S. Interagency Council on Homelessness and Regional Director John Carson made the announcement during a news conference with Mayor John Hickenlooper at Denver’s City Hall

Mayor John Hickenlooper, the Denver Office of Cultural Affairs and the Denver Commission on Cultural Affairs are pleased to announce the 2006 recipients of the Mayor’s Awards for Excellence in the Arts. The 2006 honorees are Fiesta Colorado, PlatteForum and Dianne Perry Vanderlip.

Paula Gomez Ferrell to lead training and development efforts
John Huggins, director of the Denver Office of Economic Development (OED), is pleased to announce the appointment of Paula Gomez Farrell, Ph.D., as the director of OED’s Division of Workforce Development. Gomez Farrell is formerly of NorTech, a nonprofit technology-based economic development organization serving Cleveland and Northeastern Ohio.
