Help Make Season Bright
Spreading holiday cheer is what the Denver Human Services (DHS) Giving Program hopes to bring to over 5,000 developmentally delayed adults, disadvantaged seniors, teenagers, youngsters and families this season.

“With the economy the way it is, we are seeing a decrease in donations and a rise in people who need help,” says Chrisanne Wilhelmi, Volunteer Program Manager at Denver Human Services.

 Community Emergency Response Training
Community Emergency Response Training

Community Emergency Response Training (CERT)

What would YOU do if a disaster hit close to home??

What: This 16-hour disaster preparedness and response training will include how to plan for a disaster, and teach basic response skills such as fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization, and disaster medical operations.  At the completion of this training, participants are encouraged to support emergency response agencies by taking a more active role in emergency preparedness projects in our community.

Why:  When a disaster hits, we can’t always depend on professional responders to be immediately available.  We would like to have the citizens of Denver trained to help within their own communities.

Who: This training is open to anyone. We will accept up to 40 participants.

When: September 20 and 27, 2008, 8:00am to 5:00pm (both days for certificate)

Where: Denver Police District 3, Community room, 1625 S. University Blvd.

How much: The training will be provided at NO COST to participants.

Sponsored by: Mayor's Office of Emergency Management (OEM); Denver Fire Department, Denver Police Department; Denver Health & Hospitals

For More Information or to Reserve Your Spot: http://www.denvergov.org/oem, Carolyn H. Bluhm, OEM: 720.865.7600; DenverCERT@denvergov.org
