Cultural Visioning 2028 Town Hall Meeting
What will Denver’s cultural environment look like in 20 years?

The Denver Office of Cultural Affairs invites residents and arts organizations to contribute their ideas and perspectives at a Cultural Visioning 2028 Town Hall Meeting on January 29, 2008, from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. The meeting will take place at the Denver Art Museum’s Frederic C. Hamilton Building in the Lewis I. Sharp Auditorium on the lower level.

WHAT: Cultural Visioning 2028 Presentation and Discussion

WHERE: Denver Art Museum, Frederic C. Hamilton Building, Lewis I. Sharp Auditorium

WHEN: Tuesday, January 29, 2008, 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. (doors open at 4:00 p.m.)

Denver is being described as a city in the midst of a cultural renaissance. In order to develop and sustain a vibrant arts community over time, DOCA is considering how the future will unfold and how the arts will navigate its predicable and unpredictable waters.
To do this, DOCA has developed a presentation describing an array of scenarios for the future, including changes in demographics, transportation and mobility, workforce and economic trends, media and technology and civic participation.
Broad community input is critical to DOCA’s thinking about the future of arts and culture in Denver. During the 90-minute presentation and discussion, attendees will glimpse the future and have the chance to share their reactions and insights. No RSVP required.

Results from Cultural Visioning 2028 will also inform a key presentation to be made by DOCA at the National Performing Arts Convention, coming to Denver in June 2008. The presentation, part of the Artstown 2028 opening plenary session, will be a multimedia affair that will transport conventioneers virtually to Denver in 2028. It will catalyze thinking and discussion at the Convention about how performing arts organizations will adapt to and leverage a myriad of community and technological changes to ensure their success in 20 years.

The mission of the Denver Office of Cultural Affairs is to advance the arts and culture in the City and County of Denver.
