Denver Justice Center Gains Green Award
Post Office/Parking Garage Achieves Silver LEED Rating
| The new Denver Justice Center complex has received a final SILVER LEED, or Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, rating from the US Green Building Council (USGBC).
“This building is a perfect example of sustainable construction practices that can help us significantly reduce that impact,” said Denver Mayor John Hickenlooper. LEED promotes a whole-building approach to sustainability by recognizing performance in five key areas of human and environmental health.

| A new 81-page report, titled Understanding Mortgage Foreclosures in Denver, is helping city managers gain a greater understanding of the underlying causes for the rapid rise in residential mortgage foreclosure filings in Denver. The Denver Office of Economic Development (OED) has published the in-depth study of impacts on the City and County of Denver. |

Free Tax Preparation
For Families Earning Less than $40,000
|
The Denver Asset Building Coalition (DABC) will help hard-working low-income families with their tax return preparation. This assistance will claim tax refunds from the Earned Income Tax Credit. A Tax SuperSite at
2980 Curtis St. will be open January 26 through April 15. with Saturday hours each weekend.
Additional hours are also on Mondays and Wednesdays from 6 pm - 8 pm.
When seeking assistance at a free tax preparation location, individuals should bring the following: Social Security number cards or ITIN cards for all family members; all W-2, 1099 and/or other income forms; information for all deductions and credits if available; bank account and routing number, if seeking a direct deposit; your spouse, if filing jointly; a copy of last year’s tax return if available.
