Help Make Season Bright
Spreading holiday cheer is what the Denver Human Services (DHS) Giving Program hopes to bring to over 5,000 developmentally delayed adults, disadvantaged seniors, teenagers, youngsters and families this season.
 
“With the economy the way it is, we are seeing a decrease in donations and a rise in people who need help,” says Chrisanne Wilhelmi, Volunteer Program Manager at Denver Human Services.

Denver honors 150 ‘unsung heroes’ on sesquicentennial

In celebration of its 150th birthday, the City and County of Denver has selected 150 of its citizens to honor as “unsung heroes” – ordinary people who have done extraordinary things to help make Denver a better city for this and future generations. And lists 150 Wonderful Things About Denver.

Only 1 Free Public Art Tour Remains This Year!
     

DOCA is offering FREE public art tours at the Colorado Convention Center and Denver Performing Arts Complex (DPAC).

Only two dates are scheduled for the rest of 2008:

Saturday, October 11

Saturday, November 15

The information for both dates is as follows:

Colorado Convention Center
14th Ave. & California St.

Tour begins at 11:00 AM

Tour highlights include artwork by Lawrence Argent, Jonathan Bonner, Barbara Jo Revelle, Erick C. Johnson, Jim Green, John McEnroe, Kirk Johnson and Jan Vriesen, William Matthews, Trine Bumiller and Bernar Venet.

This tour will gather in front of I See What You Mean (a.k.a. Big Blue Bear) 15 minutes prior to start time.

Denver Performing Arts Complex (DPAC)
14th Ave. & Curtis St.

Tour begins at 1:00 PM

Tour highlights include artwork in the Ellie Caulkins Opera House (Dale Chihuly, Herbert Bayer, Stephen Batura and John DeAndrea), the Buell Theatre (George Woodman and Vance Kirkland), atrium and exterior (Fernando Botero, Victor M. Contreras, Jonathan Borofsky, Marcus Akinlana and John Powell).

This tour will gather in the DPAC atrium near the Contreras sculpture (large abstract bronze in open area between Buell Theatre and Bonfils Complex) 15 minutes prior to start time.
