Spreading holiday cheer is what the Denver Human Services (DHS) Giving Program hopes to bring to over 5,000 developmentally delayed adults, disadvantaged seniors, teenagers, youngsters and families this season. And the program is asking you to consider donating to its program this year. “With the economy the way it is, we are seeing a decrease in donations and a rise in people who need help,” says Chrisanne Wilhelmi, Volunteer Program Manager at Denver Human Services. This year, DHS needs to fill thousands of stockings with age-appropriate items that will be given to clients nominated by DHS caseworkers. The stockings were donated by a community group who personally sewed each stocking. “We have all of these stockings and now need help filling them to spread holiday cheer,” says Wilhelmi. “We see so many families who are struggling to put food on the table and are unable to purchase gifts during the holiday season. We want to bring cheer to these individuals and families and create smiles this season.” If you are interested in helping needy adults, teens or youngsters this season, here is how to help. To make a monetary donation, please make your check payable to “Sara Brown Memorial Fund” with the words “Holiday Giving” in the memo field. Send checks to Denver Human Services,
1200 Federal Blvd., Denver, CO 80204. Attn: Chrisanne Wilhelmi
