Many faces lit up when
Eileen Doherty, executive director at the Colorado Gerontological Society, announced that Denver Human Services (DHS) was the recipient of its Corporate Award during its annual meeting on November 12, 2008.
“Denver Human Services has been an excellent community partner with the Colorado Gerontological Society for the past 25 years,” says Doherty. “Their staff has shown a willingness to be responsive and try to meet people’s needs in a timely fashion.”
Reba Kahlon, DHS social case worker manager, and Sheila Vieira, DHS adult services section manager, accepted the award on the department’s behalf.
“This award felt very good because of the work we do with them…it was nice to be acknowledged,” said Kahlon. “I think it is a wonderful recognition of dedication and commitment of our staff,” added Vieira.
The Corporate Award is given once each to year to an organization that exemplifies ongoing relationships, has a strong presence in the community and has the best interest of senior citizens at heart according to the Colorado Gerontological Society.
“We’re trying really hard to work well with all of our outside advocates, and our staff tries really hard to be responsive to their needs,” says Vieira
