Thursday, Nov. 26 - City and County of Denver offices will be closed for the day in observance of Thanksgiving Day. On Friday, November 27, most City and County offices will also be closed as Employees are taking a furlough day to help the City create budget savings during these challenging economic times. NEW MAPPING SITES CRIME IN CITY Thursday, November 26, 2009 | 54.0° A Few Clouds Citizens are concerned about crime where and when is occurs.  The Denver City Government has built a new mapping system to keep citizens informed about crime.   The Denver Police Department and Denver Geographic Information Systems has jointly launched the new application.  Denver residents are now able to search up-to-date crime data and generate maps and tables of crime around their homes, schools, and other locations of interest.  The system then displays a map of individual crimes, as well as a table that will show when and where each incident occurred.  The database will enable users to search by specific address, park, school, library, or neighborhood.   Searches cover 6 months, starting in January 2005 and extending to the most recent data available – the day before the search is conducted.  Information is updated daily as new crimes are reported and investigations yield new information.  Certain information is withheld, in order to avoid identifying juveniles or victims of sex crimes.
