DIA Sets Another Record

DIA had its busiest month ever in August, making it the 20th month in a row it set a  monthly record for passenger traffic.  But it was the smallest monthly increase since April and traffic is expected to decline now that airlines are cutting capacity to deal with higher fuel costs.

May 3 - Free mulch will be available at four locations during the City’s annual TreeCycle Mulch Giveaway and LeafDrop Compost Sale. Available to Denver residents FREE, on a first-come-first-serve basis.   tips on using mulch and compost

May 5 – Artist D.J. Spooky (a.k.a Paul Miller) gives a public lecture Monday, May 5th at Davis Auditorium on the University of Denver campus, 2000 E. Asbury Avenue, beginning at 5:30 p.m.
 
Blood Donations Save Lives
April 18 - The City & County of Denver is hosting a blood drive from 9:30am - 3:30pm on the Bonfils Lifeliner Bus parked on Bannock. Bonfils Blood Center needs more than 4,000 volunteer donors weekly. 
Earth Day Fair
April 22 -  The City and County of Denver will participate in this celebration by hosting the 2008 Earth Day Fair in Civic Center Park at the Greek Amphitheater from 10 AM to 2 PM.  People nationwide will be celebrating Earth Day to inspire awareness and appreciation for our planet. 
Construction Job Fair
April 23 - With dozens of construction cranes dotting the metro area landscape, there are numerous construction openings for Denver area job seekers. To assist in filling these positions, Denver is sponsoring the Construction Industry Job Fair.
Old House Expo
May 10 - Learn about creative and economical solutions to improving older homes. 12 free workshops offer experts on energy efficiency, use of space, remodeling, taking care of old windows and masonry  - as well as protecting yourself with permits and more.
Creative Spaces
May 14 – Town hall meeting reports results of Creative Space Online Survey. The Denver Office of Cultural Affairs hosts the meeting Wednesday, May 14th at the Oriental Theatre, 4335 W. 44th Avenue, at 7 p.m. No RSVP is required.
5th Annual 5 Points Jazz
May 17 – 5th Annual 5 Points Jazz is Saturday, May 17th.  Performances and activities begin at 11 a.m. at venues along Welton Street in historic Five Points.  All performances and activities are free.  For a complete list of events visit www.DenverGov.org/5PointsJazz.  View video.
