Thursday, Nov. 26 - City and County of Denver offices will be closed for the day in observance of Thanksgiving Day. On Friday, November 27, most City and County offices will also be closed as Employees are taking a furlough day to help the City create budget savings during these challenging economic times. Top Headlines Thursday, November 26, 2009 | 55.0° A Few Clouds Free Building Permits During "Home Renovation Bonanza" Denver is the first city in Colorado to offer free building permits for common home-improvement projects to single-family homes and duplexes. The free permits will be available June 1-15 and valid for 180 days. Permits will be issued on the spot to citizens or their contractors.  “Now's a great time for to take advantage of construction deals and complete projects you may be putting off,” Mayor John Hickenlooper said.
