Thursday, Nov. 26 - City and County of Denver offices will be closed for the day in observance of Thanksgiving Day. On Friday, November 27, most City and County offices will aslo be closed as Employees are taking a furlough day to help the City create budget savings during these challenging economic times. The City and County of Denver received a grant from the National Institute of Justice for a DNA Burglary Project along with four other cities. Now, with the effort underway for just over a year, the Denver Project will be held out by the National Institute of Justice as a national model for the use of DNA in property crimes. SEARCHABLE DATABASE of AFTER-SCHOOL PROGRAMS Mayor Hickenlooper and Superintendent Bennet Unveil Collaborative Technology   Mayor John Hickenlooper and Denver Public Schools Superintendent Michael Bennet have unveiled the Denver After-School Database ), an online searchable database that uses the City’s Geographical Information Systems (GIS) technology to access information about Denver’s after-school programs.   Over 700 programs are available for the 2007-2008 school year that are located in or hosted by schools, recreation centers, libraries and community-based organizations.
