WASHINGTON PARK'S GRASMERE LAKE RESTORATION COMPLETED
Denver Parks and Recreation and Denver Water Partnered to Restore Beloved Lake

District 6 Councilman Charlie Brown and District 7 Councilman Chris Nevitt joined Denver Parks and Recreation, Denver Water and members of their community on Friday, November 9 to celebrate the completion of Grasmere Lake Rehabilitation Project, located in the highly cherished Washington Park.

Built at a total cost of $1.6 million, this joint project included the lining of the lake by Denver Water with a membrane liner system (covered by soil) that will tie the existing concrete bank and the newly restored historic lakeshore by Denver Parks and Recreation. Denver Parks also funded the rehabilitation of the walking trail on the lake perimeter.   As part of this restoration, the original sandstone walls were carefully removed, stockpiled and reset in a structurally sound and aesthetically pleasing manner up to the lake edge.
