On Friday, November 27, most City and County offices will also be closed as Employees are taking a furlough day to help the City create budget savings during these challenging economic times. Denver to Launch Biennial of the Americas
$2 Million Grant From Boettcher Foundation For Landmark Arts Program
 
In the historic tradition of Venice and Sao Paolo, the world’s newest international contemporary art biennial is coming to Denver.   Denver Mayor John Hickenlooper has announced the city has received a $2 million grant from the Boettcher Foundation to help launch the Mile High City’s inaugural Biennial of the Americas.    
 
Starting in 2010, festival projects and events will integrate arts into the civic life of Mile High City and Rocky Mountain region.
New Director of Housing and Neighborhood Development
Will Provide Strategic Direction of Community Development Efforts
 
Denver's Office of Economic Development (OED), has announced the appointment of Terrance Ware as OED’s director of Housing and Neighborhood Development.    “From TREX planning, to the redevelopment of Stapleton Airport and Villa Italia Mall, Terrance has an incredible track record in land development, planning, architecture and urban design said Andre Pettigrew, OED's Executive Director. His talents will help our Office with further developing viable urban neighborhoods, while expanding economic opportunities.”
