Office of Drug Strategy

The Denver Office of Drug Strategy was created to help serve the residents of Denver by offering resources for addressing substance abuse and addiction. Our office exists to engage individuals and organizations in strategies for preventing, as well as treatment for and recovery from, substance abuse and addiction. We have a wide range of expertise in substance use, abuse, addiction, and recovery.

Our mission is to promote improvements in the access and quality of prevention, intervention, treatment, and recovery services, and to impact priority substance use and abuse issues.

Our Vision: Prevention Works; Treatment is Effective; and Recovery Happens.

Our Goals:
  • Improve access to treatment services;
  • Support new and existing prevention and intervention efforts to reduce substance abuse and use;
  • Improve coordination across the current service delivery system to increase effectiveness and accessibility of existing services;
  • Educate the general public and targeted groups about substance abuse issues and treatment, prevention, and recovery options;
  • Organize and utilize data to inform decision making and policy development for current and emerging substance abuse issues;
  • Promote quality improvements in the selection and delivery of prevention, intervention, treatment, and recovery services.

One of our primary roles is to implement the comprehensive strategic plan developed by the Denver Drug Strategy Commission. This plan is a set of measurable goals, objectives and outcomes that will address prevention and gaps in services in an efficient and cost-effective manner and a copy of it can be downloaded from the links below:
