 Holiday and Furlough Day Schedule Minimize
 
The holidays listed below are observed by the City, and shall be granted to all employees regularly scheduled to work except for on-call employees and employees in the short range classes (Park Seasonal Laborer, Pool Supervisor, Recreation Aide, Recreation Facility Asst., and Ushers). Some employees may be required to work on a holiday(s) in order to maintain essential services to the City.

*Personal Holiday - A time agreed upon by the employee and supervisor. Personal holidays can not be carried over to the next year.
 
Holidays that holidays fall on the weekend, will be observed on the dates indicated, pursuant to Career Service Rule 11-170.  
 
If any of the holidays falls on a Sunday, then the Monday following shall be considered as the holiday. If any of these holidays falls on a Saturday, the preceding Friday shall be considered as the holiday. The City is committed to reducing the number of furlough days taken next year if the City’s financial condition improves. Click here for a list of past Furlough Days. Here are the currently scheduled for 2012 furlough days:

Furlough Day and Holiday Out of Office Messages

Employees have the option to copy and paste the following text into their Out of Office Assistant in Outlook for upcoming holidays and furlough days.

Furlough Only:

I will be out of the office on ____________ as employees are taking a furlough day to help the City create budget savings during these challenging economic times. I apologize for any inconvenience and will respond to your message when our offices reopen _____________.  

Holiday Only:

I will be out of the office on __________ in observance of the _____________ holiday. I apologize for any inconvenience and will respond to your message when our offices reopen _____________.  

Holiday and Furlough Together:

I will be out of the office on ____________ and ____________ in observance of the holiday, and the furlough day that employees are taking to help the City create budget savings. I apologize for any inconvenience and will respond to your message when our offices reopen _____________.
