Shave the Date -- Movember 1st

Does your 'Stache stop people in their tracks? Does your moustache say, 'Hey, I'm a classy guy!'? Can your facial hair spark an engaging conversation about men's health? Do you have a co-worker with a handle bar that--handles its own? If so, we want to hear from you! In support of the global Movember Campaign, Denver Wellness presents the

2014 City and County of Denver Employee Movember Contest!

The Rules:

  • Contest Runs 11/1/14 – 11/30/14
  • Each Mo Bro must begin with a clean-shaven face.
  • Must send a “before” (clean-shaven face) to OHR.Communications@denvergov.org
  • Don’t forget to send follow-up photos! Photos will be posted to Wellness Facebook Page.
  • The Mo with the most likes will be declared Mr. Movember 2014 (sash, ‘stache crown and fun prizes included) --  1st and 2nd runner up winners to be ‘stached and sashed as well!
  • For the entire month of Movember each Mo Bro must grow and groom a moustache. Don't fake it -- no beards, goatees, fake moustaches (stick-on/glue-on).
  • Each Mo Bro must conduct himself like a true gentleman.

Get ready to get your Mo Grow on Bro! Check out everyone's Mo status on our Denver Wellness Facebook page!

** For our Safety gents, there is a special category for you -- We're following the rules here.

**Can't grow your own Mo? Enter the Mo Design Contest.** This is where we want to see your inner Picasso take shape! Download the template, choose a Mo, cut it out, design it, and send your photo to OHR.Communications@denvergov.org. We'll post your design to our Denver Wellness Facebook page. One entry per employee. The Mo with the most likes wins! (Great prizes awarded here too!)

Founded in 2003, the Movember Foundation is the leading global organization committed to changing the face of men’s health. The Movember Foundation challenges men to grow moustaches during Movember (formerly known as November), to spark conversation and raise vital funds for its men’s health programs. Visit www.movember.com for more information and to find out how you can participate locally, nationally, and globally!

Tips for being a superstar Wellness Champion!

  • Promote using healthy snacks like fruit, nuts, and whole wheat baked goods at meetings and agency celebrations
  • Encourage your co-worker when they make a healthy effort-- offer to be a work out buddy, congratulate them on their successes
  • If you notice your colleague hasn't moved from their seat for hours, ask them if they would like to take a break together-- fill up your water bottle, look out a window, walk around a bit.

Wellness Champions represent their agencies at quarterly meetings with the wellness staff. They give us recommendations, suggestions and input about how our programs are doing. If you would like to become a wellness champion for your agency, please send us an email at wellness@denvergov.org
