(TANF) Temporary Assistance for Needy Families
TANF/CW is Temporary Assistance to Needy Families, monthly cash assistance that you may receive while you prepare for, look for, and/or maintain employment.
If you apply for TANF, you are also applying for food assistance, Medicaid, and child support services. In addition, childcare assistance through the Colorado Child Care Assistance Program (CCCAP) and other supportive services are available while you prepare for or look for a job.
You will be required to participate in a work-related activity; the required number of hours per week will be determined by the age of your children and whether or not you are in a two-parent household.
Work activities may include approved work experience, community service, education programs, job skills training, job readiness and job search, and full and part-time employment. If you are a parent under the age of 18, you must attend high school or a GED program and live with your parents or another approved adult.
Families are eligible to receive TANF for no more than five years (60 months) in a lifetime.
The application process has several steps. To begin this process at the Castro Center, you can apply Monday, Wednesday and Friday between the hours of 8am – 4:30pm. Tuesday and Thursday you can apply between the hours of 8am – 6pm.

Upon submission of your application an appointment will be scheduled with an intake worker and you will need to attend an orientation.
