Denver's Winning Arbor Day Poster
The Denver Forestry Division has announced its 2008 Denver Arbor Day Poster Contest winners.  Fifth graders from sixteen Denver schools submitted 418 posters for this year’s contest.  The poster to the right, from Dora Moore K-8 School, was voted the overall winner by City and County of Denver Parks and Recreation employees.  Posters from Steele Elementary and Green Valley Elementary placed second and third, respectively.

Participating schools included Ashley, Barnum, Barrett, Bradley International, Centennial, Columbian, Graland Country Day, Green Valley, Greenwood, Montclair, Dora Moore, Palmer, Pioneer Charter, Remington, Steele, and Waller.

In addition to the Denver poster contest, winners from each of the sixteen schools represented Denver in the state competition in Fort Collins on March 20th.  The state winner is entered in the National Arbor Day Poster Contest in Nebraska City, Nebraska during National Awards Weekend, April 25-27.  The Forestry Division would especially like to thank all of the teachers and students that participated in this year’s contest.  This was Denver’s fourteenth and most successful Arbor Day Poster Contest.
