Be part of the electoral process and work at the polls. In addition to earning some pocket money for it, you'll have the satisfaction of participating in one of our fundamental democratic rights. Democracy is not a spectator sport. It requires the assistance of committed citizens.

We need to recruit some 2,000 Election Day poll workers to help with an anticipated record voter turnout this year. While response to date has been heartening, we especially need more of:
  • Spanish bilingual poll workers (must be English-proficient)
  • Republican poll workers

 Non-Profits: Take the Challenge! Minimize
It won’t make you rich, but it could help you through your next unexpected expense

Is your nonprofit organization looking for new and creative ways to mobilize volunteers and to raise funds? Denver Elections Division is offering a challenge to nonprofit organizations in the form of an opportunity to raise money through volunteer work.

With an anticipated record voter turnout for the November 4 General Election, the Denver Elections Division needs to recruit some 2,000 Election Day poll workers. We are paying each volunteer $120, or up to $210 for supervisors, to work a long but satisfying 14-hour day at one of 186 polling places around the city.

Marshall your volunteers to become Election Day poll workers, with their pledge to donate their fee back to your organization. We get the help we need, you get donations and a cause to rally volunteers around (pick a particular issue you need to raise funds around), and the volunteers get several benefits: the satisfaction of helping voters participate in one of their fundamental democratic rights; the means to help one of their favorite nonprofit organizations; and perhaps a tax deduction to boot. They will also be served a nice lunch that day, on the Elections Divison, at their designated polling place.

Denver Elections will shortly create a page linking off this one that will list participating charitable organizations and link back to your website so you can encourage volunteers to sign up. Participating organizations will also receive a Certificate of Appreciation from the Denver Clerk and Recorder, who administers the Elections Division.

Denver poll workers must be Denver residents who are registered to vote. Find additional requirements for poll workers on this page, above, and a poll worker application form.

The Elections Division can also provide a speaker to your organization on this program. For more information, call Patty Springmeier, 720-865-4875, or email electionscomm@denvergov.org.

Be a Student Poll Worker Minimize
College Students
Do you have a need to pick up some extra cash? Need a temporary job? Become a Denver poll worker. You can work Election Day only, or you can work on a temporary basis in the weeks leading up to the elections. See the information above for qualifications and an application.

High School Students
We need you too! If you are, or will be, 16 years of age by Election Day, join our high school poll worker program for Election Day work. You will earn the same pay as adults. The only difference is that you will need your school's permission to be away from school on November 4, General Election Day. If you are still on summer break during the Primary Election on August 12, you do not need the extra permission.
