Welcome to the Better Denver Bond Program Website
Better Denver logo
The Better Denver Bond Program is a comprehensive effort to invest in our infrastructure; and to enhance and construct city facilities that touch our lives. In 2007, Denver’s citizens passed the ballot initiatives that established this program and its bond financing in order to make Denver better for everyone. Through this program, we are improving, preserving, renovating and building new roads, libraries, parks, hospitals, public safety facilities, cultural facilities and more. Over 280 projects are slated for design and construction.  The City of Denver is committed to delivering these projects in record time (4-5 years), so that most projects are completed by 2011.

Better Denver is enhancing our City’s quality of life. The Program has the added benefit of serving as a stimulus in this challenging economy. It is helping the City put people to work and is pumping millions of dollars into the local economy. Many companies are working on these bond projects, which is significant given the relatively few opportunities in the design and construction sector at this time.

Completed

Over 97% of bond projects are now started and 75% are either in construction or are complete. This represents an injection of approximately $187 million into the local economy. 2010 is the busiest period of the Program with over 100 projects in construction. See the Progress Report page for more details.

Councilman Nevitt, Mayor Hickenlooper and Don Hunt

Merchants and Neighbors gather with Officials

City Officials and local merchants gathered in August 2010 to celebrate the completion of the first phase of improvements to South Broadway, a roadway which is important for the city as a whole and which serves a key business district. The completed segment runs from Arizona Ave. to Iowa Ave. The corridor is being reconstructed to improve mobility, enhance pedestrian access and upgrade the aesthetic of the streetscape. Federal transportation grants and Better Denver bond funding is financing most of the $34.4 million facelift for the entire 17 block corridor- which will be completed in three segments and conclude in 2012. Mayor John Hickenlooper, City Council President Chris Nevitt and Denver Public Works Manager and Deputy Mayor Guillermo “Bill” Vidal celebrated the “New and Better Broadway” with an inaugural first drive on the completed section of South Broadway.
