Veterans Preference Points

Under Colorado law, five points may be added to the passing scores of war time veterans separated under honorable conditions and to the passing scores of un-remarried widows of veterans. A DD214 IS REQUIRED AS PROOF. Ten points may be added to the passing scores of veterans with a disability who are receiving disability retirement benefits. A letter from the Veterans Administration is required as proof. Career Service can give you a list of the service dates that qualify for veterans preference points. Veterans points are not added to promotional exam scores. Fax proof of veteran’s preference points to (720) 913-5992 or e-mail jobs@denvergov.org.

Fair Labor Standards Act

Under the Federal Fair Labor Standards Act you may get either time-and-a-half pay or time-and-a-half hours off for overtime worked if you are in a job eligible for overtime.

Immigration Reform Act

The Immigration Reform Act of 1986 requires both identity and eligibility for employment proof within three days of employment.
