Parking Changes in Cherry Creek

New Parking Payment Option Available in Cherry Creek North

"Pay-by-Phone" parking to be tested in Denver and driver feedback is needed!

(Denver)…Denver Public Works Right Of Way Enforcement (ROWE) is piloting a new Pay-by-Phone parking option in the Cherry Creek North area in an effort to explore ways to make parking more convenient.

The Pay-by-Phone parking alternative allows drivers to call in with their credit card information, allowing them to bypass the parking kiosks; however the kiosk payment option will still be available, as well.  The Pay-by-Phone option is available throughout Cherry Creek North at all kiosk-metered parking locations (1st Avenue and 3rd Avenue from Josephine Street to Adams Street).

Installation of the Pay-by-Phone signs began Thursday, alerting drivers to the additional payment options. The pilot will end after approximately six months. Once the pilot is complete, the Pay-by-Phone option will be evaluated based on the feedback received through our online survey (info below) and our departmental operational standards.

"Pay-by-Phone in Cherry Creek North will offer the convenient option of paying for parking by using your phone while you are still in the car or extending your time by phone while shopping," said Denver City Council President Jeanne Robb. "It has the added benefit of providing proof of payment. This pilot program should enhance the customer experience in Cherry Creek North during the upcoming holidays."

Essential to the pilot is receiving feedback about the Pay-by-Phone system from the drivers using the program. Denver Public Works is asking drivers to provide their feedback by taking a quick survey online at www.DenverMeter.com. A hard-copy of the survey is also available by calling 311.  Input received from the survey will provide clear information about the public’s real life experience with Pay-by-Phone, which is fundamental when considering implementing the new parking option on a City-wide basis. DenverMeter.com also offers easy instructions for using the system.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR USING PAY-BY-PHONE

To use the service, motorists can visit paybyphone.com or by calling 1-888-480-PARK (7275).  Information requested will be the motorist's mobile phone number, license plate and credit card number. This creates a free account, saving the customer’s information, and can be done in advance or at the time of parking.

Once signed up with the service, users simply call the toll free number from their mobile phone and key in the location number that is posted on the meter or nearby signs and the amount of parking time desired.

The appropriate total, plus a 35-cent service fee including the text message reminder cost, will be charged to their credit card. A history of transactions is viewable any time the user logs into their account.

ADVANTAGES OF PAY-BY-PHONE

A text message reminder is sent to the user’s phone minutes before their time expires.

Customers can call back and add additional parking time up to the three hour time limit remotely from any phone.

During the pilot, the Pay-by-Phone option will only be available in Cherry Creek North.
