The Department of Public Works through its employees, provides for the delivery of high quality, cost effective, efficient, safe services involving public infrastructure and facilities to enhance the quality of life in Denver.
The Office of the Manager provides overall management of the Department of Public Works. This office provides the overall policy, planning, legislative coordination and management control of the Department and its 1,100 employees.
In the Manager's Office a Communications/Media Relations/Council Liaison team reports directly to the Manager of Public Works.
Also, included in the Office of the Manager are the following divisions/deputy manager oversight:
- Operations Division made up of the Wastewater Operations section, Street Maintenance and Solid Waste;
- The Engineering Division made up of Traffic Engineerng Services, Development Engineering Services, Capital Project Management, This division oversees the design, construction management and regulatory functions of the Public Works Department;
- Finance and Administration Division made up of finance and administration staff from the General and Wastewater Enterprise Funds, as well as Human Resources/Safety, Fleet Maintenance and Policy & Planning.
