 Renewal/Changes in Ownership

1. Licenses are active for one year and must be renewed every year. Application for renewal will be sent by the city to active licensees sixty days prior to expiration.

2. A licensee has up to 90 days following the expiration date of the license within which to renew. However, a fine of 20% of the license fee will be charged if the license is renewed up to 30 days after the expiration date; the fine is 50% of the license fee if it is renewed 31-90 days after expiration.

3. The department will notify registered neighborhood organizations whose boundaries are within 200 feet of the location of the proposed change of ownership and will include the name, address and telephone numbers of the prime contact person for the proposed owner. A hearing may be held on the transfer of the cabaret license pursuant to Section 6-53(f).

4. The procedures and requirements for cabaret changes of ownership shall be the same as for liquor license changes in ownership pursuant to D.R.M.C. Sec. 6-53(f). The procedures for a cabaret license renewal or change of ownership hearing will be the same as for a new cabaret license. The director has the right to hold a hearing upon application for renewal or change of ownership of the licensed premises at the director’s discretion on his or her own initiative or upon proper complaint to the director.
