DENVER – Most City and County of Denver offices will be closed Wednesday, Jan. 1, in observance of the New Year’s Day holiday.
As a result of the holiday, the Mayor’s Office, City Council offices, Clerk and Recorder’s Office, Auditor’s Office and most city agencies will be closed Wednesday, Jan. 1.
Partner entities such as Denver Health and the Denver Zoo will remain open Wednesday, Jan. 1, as will agencies that operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week, such as Denver International Airport. Sworn members of the Denver Sheriff, Police and Fire departments and other emergency responders will report for duty Wednesday, Jan. 1 as well.

3-1-1 INFORMATION LINE, DENVERGOV.ORG & DENVER 8 TV
3-1-1, the city’s information line for non-emergency services will be closed Wednesday, Jan. 1. Service requests may be submitted online at denvergov.org/denver311. Updates are available continuously on www.denvergov.org. Programming will continue on Denver 8 TV. Full live coverage of the Mayor and City Council will resume the week of Jan. 6.
ANIMAL SHELTER & ANIMAL CONTROL
The Denver Animal Shelter will be closed Wednesday, Jan. 1. Animal Control Officers will be available to respond to emergencies and enforce city regulations.
BUILDING AND ZONING PERMITS AND INSPECTIONS
Building and Zoning permit counters will be closed Wednesday, Jan. 1. No building inspections will be scheduled that day.
CITY-OWNED GOLF COURSES
Golf Courses will be open Wednesday, Jan. 1, weather permitting.
CLERK & RECORDER AND MARRIAGE/CIVIL UNION LICENSES
The Office of the Clerk and Recorder – including marriage and civil union licensing, the Public Trustee, Records and Recording – will be closed Wednesday, Jan. 1.
The Denver County Court will be closed Wednesday, Jan. 1. All state-operated courts, including the Denver District Court, Juvenile Court and Probate Court located in the City and County Building will be closed Wednesday, Jan. 1.
DENVER ARTS & VENUES
All properties managed by Denver Arts & Venues, including Red Rocks Park & Amphitheatre, the Denver Performing Arts Complex, Colorado Convention Center and Denver Coliseum, will be open for scheduled events and performances on Wednesday, Jan. 1. Red Rocks Park & Amphitheatre, including the Visitor Center, Trading Post and Ship Rock Grille, will be open during standard hours of operation.
DENVER COUNTY MOTOR VEHICLE OFFICES
The four Denver County Motor Vehicle office locations will be closed Wednesday, Jan. 1. For vehicle renewal online, visit the state website.
The Denver Elections Division will be closed Wednesday, Jan. 1.
EXCISE & LICENSES
Excise and Licenses’ customer service counters and offices will be closed Wednesday, Jan. 1.
Denver Human Services will be closed Wednesday, Jan. 1. The child protection emergency response team and child abuse and adult protection telephone hotlines will be staffed Wednesday, Jan. 1. All Denver Public Library locations will close early at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 31 and will be closed all day Wednesday, Jan. 1 in observance of the New Year’s Day holiday. Many of the Library's resources remain available when the buildings are closed via www.denverlibrary.org.
OFFICE OF THE MEDICAL EXAMINER (CORONER)
The Office of the Medical Examiner (Coroner) will be closed Wednesday, Jan. 1. Office staff will be available to respond to emergencies.
PARKING METERS, CASHIERS AND MAGISTRATE
Parking meters are free on Sundays and on recognized city holidays and will be free Wednesday, Jan. 1, until 11:59 p.m. Drivers are reminded to observe the time restrictions posted and to follow all normal parking regulations all other days.
The Parking Cashier counter and the Parking Magistrate’s office will be closed Wednesday, Jan. 1.
Parking violations may be paid when the counter is closed by using any of the following options –citation number printed on the ticket is required:
· Pay-by-phone at 1-866-280-9988 and follow the recorded steps using Visa or MasterCard.
· Pay online at www.denverpvb.com using Visa or MasterCard.
· Use the payment kiosk located outside of the Webb building on Court between 14th & 15th using Visa or MasterCard, or personal or business checks. Note: There is a 2.5% transaction fee for online transactions and for using credit cards in the kiosks.
· Written correspondence to contest or investigate a citation may be sent to the Parking Violations Bureau at P.O. Box 46500, Denver, CO 80201 or e-mail may be sent to www.denverpvb.com.
PUBLIC WORKS PERMIT COUNTERS
Public Works’ permit counters and the Right Of Way Enforcement office will be closed Wednesday, Jan. 1.
All Denver Parks and Recreation regional, local and neighborhood recreation centers will be open Wednesday, Jan. 1. For more information and directions to a regional recreation center and outdoor pool, visit denvergov.org/recreation.
TRASH, RECYCLING & COMPOST COLLECTION
Trash, recycling and composting will not be collected Wednesday, Jan. 1, and service will be delayed one day following the New Year’s Day holiday. Wednesday service will be provided on Thursday, Thursday service on Friday, and Friday service on Saturday for this week only.
VEHICLE IMPOUND FACILITY
The Vehicle Impound Facility, 5160 York St., will be closed Wednesday, Jan. 1.
The Wastewater Management Building, 2000 W. Third Ave., will be closed Wednesday, Jan. 1.
All Denver Workforce Centers will be closed Wednesday, Jan. 1. The city’s online hiring system will be available at www.denvergov.org/jobs.
