DENVER – Most City and County of Denver offices will be closed Friday, July 4, 2014 in observance of the Independence Day holiday.
As a result of the holiday, the Mayor’s Office, City Council offices, Clerk and Recorder’s Office, Auditor’s Office and most city agencies will be closed July 4.
Partner entities such as Denver Health and the Denver Zoo will remain open Friday, July 4, as will agencies that operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week, such as Denver International Airport. Sworn members of the Denver Sheriff, Police and Fire departments and other emergency responders will report for duty Friday, July 4 as well.

3-1-1 INFORMATION LINE, DENVERGOV.ORG & DENVER 8 TV
3-1-1, the city’s information line for non-emergency services will be closed Friday, July 4. Service requests may be submitted via mobile device using the “Ask Denver” app or online at denvergov.org/denver311. Updates are available continuously on www.denvergov.org. Regular programming will continue on Denver 8 TV. No Council coverage during week of July 7. Watch for live coverage of State of the City July 14. Standard meeting schedule resumes that same week.
ANIMAL SHELTER & ANIMAL CONTROL
The Denver Animal Shelter will be closed Friday, July 4. Animal Control Officers will be available to respond to emergencies and enforce city regulations.
BUILDING AND ZONING PERMITS AND INSPECTIONS
Building and Zoning permit counters will be closed Friday, July 4. No building inspections will be scheduled that day.
CITY-OWNED GOLF COURSES
Golf Courses will be open Friday, July 4, weather permitting.
CLERK & RECORDER AND MARRIAGE/CIVIL UNION LICENSES
The Office of the Clerk and Recorder – including marriage and civil union licensing, the Public Trustee, Records and Recording – will be closed Friday, July 4.
The Denver County Court will be closed Friday, July 4. All state-operated courts, including the Denver District Court, Juvenile Court and Probate Court located in the City and County Building will be closed Friday, July 4.
DENVER ARTS & VENUES
All properties managed by Denver Arts & Venues, including Red Rocks Park & Amphitheatre, the Denver Performing Arts Complex, Colorado Convention Center and Denver Coliseum, will be open for scheduled events and performances on Friday, July 4. Red Rocks Park & Amphitheatre, including the Visitor Center, Trading Post and Ship Rock Grille, will be open during standard hours of operation.
DENVER COUNTY MOTOR VEHICLE OFFICES
The four Denver County Motor Vehicle office locations will be closed Friday, July 4. For vehicle renewal online, visit the state website.
The Denver Elections Division will be closed Friday, July 4.
EXCISE & LICENSES
Excise and Licenses’ customer service counters and offices will be closed Friday, July 4.
Denver Human Services will be closed Friday, July 4. The child protection emergency response team, child abuse and adult protection telephone hotlines will be staffed on this day. To report suspected child abuse call 720-944-3000. To report elder abuse for an adult 70 years and older, call the Denver Police Department at 720-913-2000. For all other adult protection calls, please call 720-944-2994.
All Denver Public Library locations will be closed Friday, July 4 in observance of the Independence Day holiday. Many of the Library's resources remain available when the buildings are closed via www.denverlibrary.org.
OFFICE OF HUMAN RESOURCES TALENT ACQUISITION TESTING
The Office of Human Resources Talent Acquisition Testing Center will be closed Friday, July 4. The city’s online hiring system will be available at www.denvergov.org/jobs.
OFFICE OF THE MEDICAL EXAMINER (CORONER)
The Office of the Medical Examiner (Coroner) will be closed Friday, July 4. Office staff will be available to respond to emergencies.
PARKING METERS, CASHIERS AND MAGISTRATE
Parking meters are free on Sundays and on recognized city holidays and will be free Friday, July 4, until 11:59 p.m. Drivers are reminded to observe the time restrictions posted and to follow all normal parking regulations all other days.
The Parking Cashier counter and the Parking Magistrate’s office will be closed Friday, July 4. Parking violations may be paid when the counter is closed by using any of the following options –citation number printed on the ticket is required:
- Pay-by-phone at 1-866-280-9988 and follow the recorded steps using Visa or MasterCard.
- Pay online at www.denverpvb.com using Visa or MasterCard.
- Use the payment kiosk located outside of the Webb building on Court between 14th & 15th using Visa or MasterCard, or personal or business checks.
- Written correspondence to contest or investigate a citation may be sent to the Parking Violations Bureau at P.O. Box 46500, Denver, CO 80201 or e-mail may be sent to www.denverpvb.com.
PUBLIC WORKS PERMIT COUNTERS
Public Works’ permit counters and the Right Of Way Enforcement office will be closed Friday, July 4.
RECREATION CENTERS AND CITY OUTDOOR POOLS
All Denver Parks and Recreation regional, local and neighborhood recreation centers be closed Friday, July 4. All Denver Parks and Recreation outdoor pools will be open Friday, July 4, but will close at 5 p.m.
Right of Way will be enforcing required residential parking permit signage in neighborhoods around Sports Authority Field for the July 4th Outlaws game, and safety-related infractions will be enforced in Cherry Creek Arts Festival neighborhoods during festival days. Normal enforcement resumes on Saturday, July 5.
TRASH, RECYCLING & COMPOST COLLECTION
Trash, recycling and composting will not be collected Friday, July 4, and service will be delayed one day following the Independence Day holiday. Friday service will be provided on Saturday for this week only.
VEHICLE IMPOUND FACILITY
The Vehicle Impound Facility, 5160 York St., will be closed Friday, July 4.
The Wastewater Management Building, 2000 W. Third Ave., will be closed Friday, July 4.
All Denver Workforce Centers will be closed Friday, July 4. The city’s online hiring system will be available at www.denvergov.org/jobs.
