I cannot locate my title do I need a duplicate title?

• Duplicate Titles are required if the original title has been lost or destroyed. Applications for duplicate title automatically void the original copy if recovered or found.

Where can I apply for a duplicate title?

• In order to apply for a duplicate title, the original owner can apply at any county office within the State of Colorado. The named owner must present a Secure and Verifiable Identification for duplicate title applications with a purchase date on or after July 1, 2006.

I am not the original owner of the vehicle and I need to apply for the duplicate title. What items must I provide?

• A named owner will provide a DR2175, Non-secure power of attorney to his/her agent to include the grantor's (named owner's) secure and verifiable identification information for vehicles with a purchase date on and after July 1, 2006.  

• For vehicles with purchase dates prior to July 1, 2006 a named owner will provide a DR2175, Non-secure power of attorney to his/her agent to include the grantor's (named owner's) identification information. The agent is required to present Secure and Verifiable Identification regardless of the purchase date of the vehicle.

What is the fee for a duplicate title?

• The fee for a duplicate title is $8.20.
