• My license plate for the front of my vehicle is missing. Am I required to have a front plate?

Yes, Colorado requires that all vehicles have a front and back plate.

• Is there a charge to replace lost, stolen or damaged plate(s)?

There will be a nominal fee for any plate replacement depending on the type of vehicle. Please call the Motor Vehicle Help Line at (720) 865-4600 for any questions.

• What information is required to replace my missing plate(s)?

Please bring your most recent Colorado Registration/Ownership Tax Receipt, proof of insurance and a form of photo identification into one of our Denver Motor Vehicle branch office locations and our Compliance Agents will be happy to assist you in replacing your missing plates. If your plates or tabs are stolen, we suggest that you file a report with local law enforcement.

The required forms can be obtained at the police precinct or sheriff's office.
